Responsive Alternative for UK Consultancies

Responsive is enterprise Strategic Response Management, priced from $5,000/yr for 5 users. Bidro is built for 3–20 person UK consultancies at £99, lifetime.

Last updated 28 July 2026

Responsive — formerly RFPIO — calls itself the leader in "Strategic Response Management." If you've looked at it and felt like you were being sold a platform for a much bigger response operation than you actually run, this page is for you.

In short: Responsive is built for large sales, proposal and security teams answering RFPs, RFIs and questionnaires at volume across a whole organisation. Bidro is built for the 3–20 person consultancy where one or two people price the job and decide whether to bid it. The two tools solve different-sized problems.

When Responsive is the right fit

If you're answering RFPs, security questionnaires and DDQs at real volume, and that content passes through sales, marketing and InfoSec as well as a proposal team, Responsive's positioning as the category leader in Strategic Response Management is a genuine fit. It's built to hold one library of vetted answers across a whole organisation and cites customers well into the Fortune 100 — a different scale of response operation entirely.

Where Responsive doesn't fit a small consultancy

Even the entry tier assumes a five-person team. Responsive's own pricing page starts the Lite edition at $5,000/year for 5 users — its cheapest published option, not an enterprise tier.

Pricing above that is deliberately opaque. The pricing page itself carries an FAQ headed "Why doesn't Responsive publish exact prices?" — everything past Lite is a custom quote.

The use case is security questionnaires, not technical bids. Responsive's own site foregrounds RFPs, security questionnaires and buyer assessments answered by sales, marketing and InfoSec together. A structural or M&E consultancy's bid content — scope, programme, day rates, risk — isn't that kind of document.

There's no cost or margin logic. Responsive measures how fast and well you respond. It has no concept of what the job costs to deliver, so a fast response and a profitable one look identical to it.

Why Bidro fits a smaller consultancy

A margin floor, not a response library. Bidro tells you the lowest fee a job can go for before it stops being worth winning, calculated from labour cost, expenses and risk — not from a library of past answers. See how scoring a bid works.

A bid/no-bid score before you write anything. For a firm with only a couple of people to spend on proposals, knowing whether a bid is worth the time comes before knowing how to answer it well. See who Bidro is built for.

One published price, no seat count. Pricing is on the homepage — no five-user minimum, no quote to book.

The honest trade-off

Responsive will out-perform Bidro on anything that's actually a response-content problem at scale — a shared library, cross-department collaboration, security-questionnaire throughput. Bidro doesn't compete there. What it does instead is answer the question that comes before any of that: is this bid worth writing, and what does it need to cost. For most 3–20 person consultancies, that's the harder question and the one nothing else is answering.
